Tuesday June 8 was World Ocean Day, and at the Radisson Hotel in Belize City, it was a day that the Coalition to Save Our Natural Heritage hopes marked the end of offshore oil drilling prospects in Belize. Organized by Ms. Audrey Matura-Shepherd, vice president of Oceana, the largest global organization solely focused on preserving the planet’s oceans, a forum was held to educate the public on the adverse realities of offshore drilling.
1) Do you support Oceana in protecting our oceans or the Governments prospects on Drilling in Belize ?
2 )To what extent do you support the answer chosen in question 1
I am at a half way margin in my support if safe drilling is done it would benefit the country in a small way financially , If their is an oil spill this will destroy our ocean and beaches and we don't have the resources to clean up a spill and this would decrease our tourism industry annual income which in a main financial source for our country
ReplyDeleteI will not support drilling in Belize regardless if it is the safe way of doing it. If there is an accident it will occur regardless of saftey is done. With the accident the benifit will not be in existence because the country will be more poor that how it is already. The best thing is leave the drilling idea away from our Belize waters!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I support Oceana in protecting our ocean. This is so because we need to preserve our countries natural resource. We need to establish proper and effective guidelines that dictate how our resource could be used, maintained and replicated. If it is not maintained, replicated then what we are used to will soon reach out of existence.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with Elda
